Maximus Review: Is It Legit?

Maximus review: compounded and brand-name GLP-1s from $249.99/mo, the pharmacy it uses, FDA warning letters and complaints. See if it's legit.

Last updated Sep 30, 2026
Quick answer

Maximus is an online GLP-1 program that prescribes both brand-name and compounded medication: compounded semaglutide, Wegovy, compounded tirzepatide, Ozempic, Zepbound, Mounjaro. Plans start at $250 a month. We rate it 7.3/10 (Good). It names the pharmacy that fills its prescriptions, EVR. It ships to 47 states. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Maximus has an FDA warning letter on file, so we do not recommend it.

Good · 7.3Brand-name and compounded

Maximus (Maximus Health) is a men's health platform that added GLP-1 weight loss to its testosterone and peptide care. It suits men who want weight loss and hormone care from one doctor, with compounded and brand-name drugs on one menu.

We rate it 7.3 out of 10, tier Good. The terms are clean and the pharmacies are named, but month-to-month prices sit near the top of its group.

The catch is the FDA record. The FDA sent Maximus a warning letter on June 8, 2026, and it is still open.

What is Maximus?

Maximus is an online clinic for men. It started with testosterone and hormone protocols, and weight loss now sits beside them on the same platform.

Here is how it goes. You fill in a health history online, and a board-certified physician reviews it. If a GLP-1 fits, a licensed prescriber sets your dose and plan. The medication ships to your door in discreet, unmarked packaging, and refills continue on the same plan.

The menu is wide. On the compounded side there are semaglutide and tirzepatide injections. On the brand-name side there are Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, Foundayo and Zepbound. Wegovy comes as a weekly pen or a daily tablet. To understand the drugs themselves, read our pages on semaglutide and tirzepatide.

Maximus serves 47 states, all except Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Is Maximus legit?

Mostly yes. Maximus is a real telehealth company with board-certified US physicians, four named pharmacies and a LegitScript certification. The weak point is an open FDA warning letter from June 8, 2026. That letter is about how Maximus markets compounded drugs, not about where the drugs come from.

Maximus names four pharmacies: EVR, FCC, VIOS and The Pharmacy Hub. They are 503A pharmacies, which means compounding pharmacies that fill a prescription for one named patient under state board oversight. None of the four appears in the FDA register we read, which is normal for that pharmacy type. So there is no inspection record to show you, and nothing against them either.

Each product page names the drug, its form and whether it is brand-name or compounded. The home page does not say plainly that some products are compounded.

Month to month, compounded semaglutide costs $249.99 a month after a $149.99 first month, with the drug, the doctor and shipping included. There is no membership fee and shipping is free. Maximus does not take insurance; its weight-loss page says "No insurance required." Labs, when your doctor asks for them, are billed apart.

The brand-name drugs cost more and rise with the dose. Each product page headline is a first-month price, and the ongoing rate is higher. The Wegovy pen is $349.99 the first month, then $449.99 at 0.25 and 0.5 mg and $599.99 from 1.0 to 2.4 mg. Ozempic is $349.99, then $449.99, with 1 mg at $599.99 and 2 mg at $799.99. Three months of compounded semaglutide on the monthly plan come to $649.97.

On month-to-month prices, Maximus ranks 14 of 15 programs in its group, where the median is $199 a month. For scale, a pharmacy pays $871.12 for a Wegovy 1.7 mg pen package, effective September 23, 2026. That is an acquisition cost, not what a patient pays.

Maximus tirzepatide price

Compounded tirzepatide now shows a plan ladder on the product page. Maximus says: "Tirzepatide is offered on four plan lengths, each at one flat monthly rate: 2-month plan $249.99/mo, 4-month plan $219.99/mo, 6-month plan $199.99/mo, and 12-month plan $149.99/mo." Its support table still lists $259.99 for the first month and $359.99 after that, with $299, $275 or $240 a month on longer plans. The two tables do not match, so confirm the rate at checkout.

Brand-name tirzepatide costs more. Zepbound is $449.99 the first month, then $549.99 at 2.5 mg, $649.99 at 5 mg and $749.99 from 7.5 mg. Mounjaro is $1,249.99 the first month, then $1,349.99 at every dose.

Maximus semaglutide price

Compounded semaglutide is $149.99 for the first month, then $249.99 a month, at every dose. The lower rates need a longer plan: $199, $175 or $150 a month on a 4, 6 or 12-month plan. California adds $50 per shipment on compounded semaglutide.

Brand-name semaglutide comes as pens and pills. The Wegovy pen starts at $349.99, then $449.99 or $599.99 by dose; Wegovy HD 7.2 mg is $649.99. Ozempic starts at $349.99, then runs from $449.99 to $799.99. The Wegovy tablet starts at $249.99, then $349.99 or $499.99 by dose. Each first-month figure is $100 below the ongoing one.

What to watch

The $149.99 first month is a one-time discount: month-to-month semaglutide is $249.99, and the lower rates need a 4, 6 or 12-month plan that cannot be ended early.

Does Maximus have a discount code?

No public code appears on the pages we read. The discount Maximus does offer is built into the price. Compounded semaglutide is $149.99 for the first month instead of $249.99. The brand-name pages offer "$100 OFF first month of medication for new clients purchasing 12-month plan".

The deeper discount is a longer plan. Compounded semaglutide drops to $150 a month on a 12-month plan. Those 4, 6 and 12-month plans cannot be ended early or refunded. So a lower rate means money you cannot get back. Be wary of code sites that list a Maximus promo code; the brand does not publish one.

Does Maximus offer GLP‑1 pills?

Yes. Maximus sells two GLP-1 pills, both brand-name. The Wegovy tablet is "FDA-approved semaglutide. Now in a daily pill." It starts at $249.99 for the first month, then costs $349.99 at 1.5 mg and 4 mg and $499.99 at 9 mg and 25 mg.

Foundayo is the second pill, listed from $199.99 a month. Maximus says "A board-certified physician reviews your information and determines if orforglipron is right for you." The Wegovy tablet has a strict routine: Maximus says to "take with no more than 4 oz of water, wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking." There is no compounded pill.

How does Maximus work?

The care runs online, with no scheduled appointments. You message your care team when you need to, and they track your progress and adjust your protocol.

The doctors are US-based, licensed and board-certified, with a focus on hormones and performance medicine. Your plan is not a fixed protocol: "Your dose, your plan. A licensed prescriber sets it from your weight, history, and goals." That suits men who already use Maximus for testosterone, since one team sees the whole picture.

Your price can move during a plan. The terms say "Changes in treatment care during the commitment term may result in higher or lower monthly charges depending on the prescribed care plan." Maximus does not state how fast a doctor reviews your intake or when labs are needed.

Is Maximus safe? FDA status and warning letters

Maximus has an open FDA warning letter, dated June 8, 2026. The subject is false and misleading claims, and misbranding, by a telehealth seller. The FDA wrote that it saw "your website’s false or misleading claims concerning compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide products". While the letter is open, we do not link to Maximus, and it appears in no ranking.

None of the four pharmacies appears in the letters we hold, and no other flag is open. The score goes back up when the FDA closes the letter out.

The drug questions are the same as for any GLP-1. The product pages carry the label warning that "In studies, semaglutide caused thyroid C-cell tumors in rats." For side effects, doses and who should not take these drugs, read our semaglutide and tirzepatide pages, which quote the FDA labels.

What the website claimed

The FDA says the company’s own marketing was misleading — a claim about safety, results or approval that its website could not support. This is about the advertising, not about the medicine a patient received.

“FDA observed that your website offers compounded drug products, including semaglutide and tirzepatide products. 1 As described below, your website’s false or misleading claims concerning compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide products under sections 502(a) and 502(bb) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) [21 U.S.C.”

What does an FDA letter mean?

A warning letter asks a company to fix something. It is not a recall, it does not suspend a licence, and it is the FDA’s position rather than a court’s finding.

How to cancel Maximus

Cancellation
Cancel anytime
Money-back guarantee
"If you're not approved for treatment, you'll receive a full refund (minus the cost of the doctor consultation)." No refunds for medicines already shipped.

On a monthly plan you can cancel at any time, with no minimum term. Once you prepay a 4, 6 or 12-month plan, it cannot be ended early or refunded.

The refund rule is short. If a doctor does not approve you for treatment, you get a full refund, minus the cost of the doctor consultation. Medication that has already shipped is not refunded.

The trap is the first month. The $149.99 semaglutide rate is a one-time discount, not the monthly price, which is $249.99. Read the plan length before you pay.

What customers say about Maximus

Maximus shows no client reviews on the pages we read. The page it links as reviews is a resource article about blood-work results, not a page of client stories. So there are no testimonials to print here.

The home page carries a chart of client results. We do not repeat it, because it is an outcome claim and not a review. This site collects no independent reviews. If you want to know how other men found the service, look for reviews outside the brand's site before you sign up.

How we scored Maximus

Price transparency scores 8.14 at a 20% weight: every price is on a product page, but each headline is a first-month rate. Cost and value scores 2 at a 15% weight: rank 14 of 15 on month-to-month prices. Traceability scores 7.8 at a 15% weight: four pharmacies named, none found in the FDA register. Clinical care scores 7.2 at a 15% weight: named doctors, no stated wait time or lab policy.

Safety scores 8 at a 20% weight: an open FDA warning letter on the brand. Terms score 10 at a 10% weight: monthly plans cancel anytime and the refund rule is stated. Availability scores 9.82 at a 5% weight: 47 states and free shipping.

Since our last check, several product pages changed, and the score held at 7.3. One sign-up page for testosterone refused our automated read, so our coverage of that page is thinner. The weights are on our methodology page.
