A U-100 syringe has 100 units per mL, so 1 unit is 0.01 mL. Units = (dose in mg ÷ strength in mg/mL) × 100. Volume in mL = dose in mg ÷ strength in mg/mL.

The doses come from the FDA labels: Semaglutide (0.25 to 2.4 mg) and Tirzepatide (2.5 to 15 mg).

The tool gives no answer when the draw is more than 1 mL or the dose is above the highest labeled dose. The FDA alert on compounded dosing errors tells patients to take both problems to a pharmacist.

Vial strengths differ between pharmacies and can change between refills. Some pharmacies supply U-40 syringes or syringes marked in mL. This math does not apply to them. This tool never suggests a dose. It only converts the dose on your label.

It depends on the vial strength. On a U-100 syringe, it is 25 units from a 1 mg/mL vial, 10 units from a 2.5 mg/mL vial and 5 units from a 5 mg/mL vial. No single answer fits every vial, so always read your vial label.

The syringe has 100 units per mL, so each unit mark is 0.01 mL. The units measure volume, not the drug. They come from insulin dosing. That is why the same mg dose is a different number of units at a different strength.

Divide first: 2.5 mg ÷ 0.5 mL = 5 mg/mL. Enter 5. Labels written per 0.5 mL are a common cause of the unit mix-ups in FDA overdose reports on compounded semaglutide. If you are not sure, read the label to your pharmacist.

No. This math works only on U-100 insulin syringes. A U-40 syringe gives 2.5× more drug at the same mark. A syringe marked in mL needs the mL figure, not units. Use the syringe your pharmacy gives you.
