Hers Weight Loss Review: Pills, Cost & Is It Legit?
Hers weight loss review: Wegovy pill, Foundayo and Zepbound prices by dose, $298 to $598 a month with membership, its FDA warning letter and FTC lawsuit.
- 1 FDA warning letter
- Names its pharmacy
- Prices checked Oct 3, 2026
Hers is the women's telehealth brand of Hims & Hers Health, Inc., a public company in San Francisco. For weight loss it now prescribes only brand-name, FDA-approved GLP-1s: the Wegovy pill and pen, Zepbound, Foundayo and Ozempic. It suits you if you want a brand-name drug at the maker's self-pay price and value a monthly care membership around it.
The medication starts at $149 a month, and a $149 monthly membership comes on top, so the cheapest plan is $298 a month after a $39 first month. At the top doses U.S. News lists $299 a month for a pill and $449 for Zepbound, which makes $448 and $598 a month with the membership. Hers' own pages publish only the starting price of each drug, and it does not take insurance.
We rate it 7.3 out of 10, tier Good. It names its pharmacies and medical groups and sells only approved drugs, but the membership doubles the starting cost, it has an open FDA warning letter, and its parent company faces a federal lawsuit over billing and canceling.
Hers has an open FDA warning letter dated September 9, 2025, about two claims it made for compounded semaglutide. Hers no longer sells compounded GLP-1s on its site. The safety section explains the letter and what has happened since. Because the letter is open, Hers is not in our rankings and we have no link to it.

What is Hers?
Hers is run by Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE: HIMS), the company behind Hims; both brands share one set of terms. Hims & Hers says it "is not a healthcare provider". Its providers come from medical groups named "You Health of" Alaska, California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nebraska, New Jersey and Texas, and "You Health Williams of Nevada".
For weight loss, Hers lists these medications, as shown on its site in September and October 2026:
- Daily pills, from $149 a month: the Wegovy pill, Foundayo and the Ozempic pill. With the membership, from $298 a month.
- Weekly pens, from $199 a month: Wegovy and Ozempic. With the membership, from $348 a month.
- Zepbound vial or KwikPen, from $299 a month. With the membership, from $448 a month.
- Zepbound pen and Mounjaro, $1,899 a month. With the membership, $2,048 a month.
Ozempic and Mounjaro are approved for type 2 diabetes, and Hers says they are only for patients who meet its clinical criteria. The oral medication kits Hers used to sell are no longer on the list; the pills section explains. To compare the drugs themselves, see the Wegovy pill guide and what Foundayo is.
How much does Hers cost?
Hers costs $298 a month at the least: $149 for the Wegovy pill, Foundayo or the Ozempic pill at the starting dose, plus the $149 membership. The first month's membership is $39, so month one is $188.
The two charges are separate. "Price includes medication only, if prescribed", and the membership "does not include or guarantee a prescription". You cannot get medication without it. Each is its own subscription that renews on its own.
The medication price rises with the dose. Hers lists each medication "From" its lowest price and says "Pricing may vary by dosage". U.S. News, in its review updated August 12, 2026, lists Hers' price at every dose, collected from company websites and representatives:
| Medication | Price by dose | With the $149 membership | | --- | --- | --- | | Wegovy pill | $149 at 1.5 mg and 4 mg; $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg | $298 to $448 | | Foundayo | $149 at 0.8 mg; $199 at 2.5 mg; $299 at 5.5 mg to 17.2 mg | $298 to $448 | | Ozempic pill | $149 at 1.5 mg; $199 at 4 mg; $299 at 9 mg | $298 to $448 | | Wegovy pen | $199 at 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg; $349 at 1 mg to 2.4 mg; $399 at 7.2 mg | $348 to $548 | | Ozempic pen | $199 at 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg; $349 at 1 mg and 2 mg | $348 to $498 | | Zepbound vial or KwikPen | $299 at 2.5 mg; $399 at 5 mg; $449 at 7.5 mg to 15 mg | $448 to $598 | | Zepbound pen, Mounjaro | $1,899 | $2,048 |
So at a maintenance dose, the all-in monthly cost is $448 for a pill, $498 for the Wegovy pen at 2.4 mg and $598 for Zepbound at 7.5 mg or more.
In short, you pay:
- Membership: $39 in month one, not refundable, then $149 a month, renewing monthly.
- Medication: from $149 to $1,899 a month, billed separately by drug and dose.
- Insurance: not billed; FSA or HSA cards by reimbursement.
The medication prices match the makers' own self-pay prices: Zepbound and Foundayo are filled by LillyDirect at Lilly's self-pay price, and Hims & Hers agreed with Novo Nordisk to offer its drugs at Novo's self-pay prices. What Hers charges for is the membership.
Hers tirzepatide cost: Zepbound prices
Hers' tirzepatide is brand-name Zepbound. The vial or KwikPen costs $299 a month at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg and $449 at 7.5 mg to 15 mg, as U.S. News listed it in August 2026. With the membership that is $448 to $598 a month, or $338 in month 1. Zepbound prescriptions are filled by LillyDirect, Eli Lilly's pharmacy. The single-dose Zepbound pen and Mounjaro, tirzepatide for type 2 diabetes, are listed at $1,899 a month. Hers lists no compounded tirzepatide.

Does Hers take insurance?
No. Hims & Hers and its medical groups do not bill Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance, and you pay cash. Hers says FSA and HSA cards may work but recommends paying by card and claiming reimbursement. If your plan covers Wegovy or Zepbound, a provider who bills it may cost less; see does insurance cover Zepbound?.
Is Hers legit?
Hers has an open FDA warning letter dated September 9, 2025. It is a large, documented company: its parent files with the SEC, and its terms name every dispensing pharmacy and medical group.
The letter is about marketing. The FDA reviewed forhers.com in August 2025 and objected to two claims about compounded semaglutide: "same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy" and "Clinically proven ingredients". It said the claims imply the products "are the same as an FDA-approved product when they are not". The FDA has not published a close-out.
Hers' parent is also under wider scrutiny. In February 2026 the Department of Health and Human Services referred Hims & Hers to the Department of Justice, and the SEC opened an investigation into its statements about compounded semaglutide; the company said in August 2026 that it was "unclear" what action would follow. In July 2026 the FTC, Utah and Los Angeles County sued it over billing and canceling (more under how to cancel). None of these has a finding against the company yet.
The pharmacies are named. The terms list Apostrophe Pharmacy, XeCare, Curexa (EHT Pharmacy), Red Rock Pharmacy (CD Pharmacy, Utah), AnazaoHealth and Strive Specialties, and say a prescription "may be filled by and transferred between any of the Pharmacies". Apostrophe and XeCare are owned by Hims & Hers. Zepbound and Foundayo prescriptions go to LillyDirect, Eli Lilly's pharmacy, instead.
Does Hers offer GLP‑1 pills?
Yes. Hers weight loss pills are three daily, FDA-approved GLP-1 tablets: the Wegovy pill, Foundayo and the Ozempic pill, each from $149 a month plus the $149 membership. Hers also lists a Wegovy pill "Microdosing Plan" at the same starting price. U.S. News notes that microdosing GLP-1s for weight loss is experimental and not FDA-approved.
What are Hers weight loss pills?
- Wegovy pill: oral semaglutide from Novo Nordisk, approved for weight loss. One tablet each morning on an empty stomach with a sip of water, 30 minutes before eating or drinking. It comes in 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg and 25 mg.
- Foundayo: orforglipron from Eli Lilly, approved for weight loss. One tablet a day at any time, with or without food. Hers' Foundayo prescriptions are filled by LillyDirect.
- Ozempic pill: oral semaglutide approved for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss, for patients who meet Hers' clinical criteria.
How much are Hers weight loss pills?
Each pill starts at $149 a month, and U.S. News lists $299 a month at the top doses: 9 mg and 25 mg of the Wegovy pill, 5.5 mg to 17.2 mg of Foundayo and 9 mg of the Ozempic pill. With the membership, a pill plan is $188 in month 1, $298 a month at the starting dose and $448 a month at the top dose.
Do Hers weight loss pills work?
The weight loss evidence for Hers' pills comes from the drugs' own trials. On its FDA label, adults taking the 25 mg Wegovy pill lost an average of 13.6% of body weight at 64 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo. On Foundayo 17.2 mg, adults without diabetes lost an average of 11.1% at 72 weeks, against 2.1% on placebo. The member stories on Hers' site say results "have not been independently verified".
Hers weight loss pills side effects
The side effects of Hers' pills are those of the drugs, led by stomach symptoms. The Wegovy label says the tablet's common side effects are similar in type and frequency to those of the 2.4 mg injection, on which 44% of people had nausea, 30% diarrhea, 24% vomiting and 24% constipation. On Foundayo 17.2 mg, 35% had nausea, 25% diarrhea, 24% constipation and 24% vomiting. Both labels carry a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors. Hers lists side effect support in its membership; U.S. News says anti-nausea medication is not available through Hims & Hers. If you have side effects, talk to your provider.
What happened to the Hers oral weight loss kits?
Hers no longer lists them. Its blog, updated October 27, 2025, described oral medication kits combining two to four generic drugs, such as bupropion, metformin, topiramate and naltrexone, sometimes with vitamin B12. The blog says each drug is approved for another use, such as type 2 diabetes, depression, seizures or alcohol and opioid dependence. Hers' weight-loss page, as captured on September 20, 2026, lists only the GLP-1s above. See GLP-1 pills vs injections.
How does Hers work?
You sign up for the membership, answer an online health questionnaire, and a provider reviews it. "Depending on your state", treatment may be decided without a video visit; where one is needed it is by video or audio. If you are prescribed, Hers says you can start "as soon as this week". It states no review time.
U.S. News, in August 2026, reported that a provider usually reviews the intake within 48 hours, that Hims & Hers asks for a government-issued photo ID and a photo, and that refrigerated medication ships within one business day and other medication in two to five business days. Lab work is not required.
The membership covers an initial evaluation, a clinical check-in once a month, dose changes, unlimited messaging with providers, a care team and a members' Facebook community. Hers adds nutrition guides, partner discounts and a smart scale you opt into. Hers says GLP-1s "are not yet available in all 50 states" and does not list which.
Is Hers safe? FDA status and warning letters
Hers has an open FDA warning letter to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hers, MARCS-CMS 716825, dated September 9, 2025. It concerns claims, not product quality: the FDA said that calling compounded semaglutide the "same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy" and claiming "Clinically proven ingredients" made the products misbranded. A sister letter went to the Hims brand the same day. The FDA has published no response from the company and no close-out. Every weight loss drug Hers lists today is FDA-approved and carries the risks on its label, including a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors.
Here is what changed after the letter. In March 2025 the Hers compounded semaglutide page described "a GLP-1 injection with the same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy". In February 2026 Hims & Hers launched a compounded semaglutide pill; the FDA named it in a February 6 statement, HHS referred it to the Department of Justice, and it stopped offering the pill. On March 9, 2026, it agreed with Novo Nordisk to stop advertising compounded GLP-1s. Since then forhers.com has listed only FDA-approved medications; the 10-Q says compounded GLP-1s are offered "on a limited scale" when a provider finds one clinically necessary.
Two pharmacies Hims & Hers owns have FDA records. XeCare, a 503A pharmacy in New Albany, Ohio, named in Hers' terms, received a Form 483 in June 2026; one observation describes a compounded semaglutide injection made in May 2026 while exposed to lower than ISO 5 air. A Form 483 lists an inspector's observations; it is not a final FDA finding. MedisourceRx, its 503B outsourcing facility in Los Alamitos, California, received a warning letter on December 12, 2025, about adverse-event reporting; the FDA closed it out on July 27, 2026.
The bigger question with any compounded program is the drug itself. Compounded GLP-1s are prepared by a pharmacy to a prescription. They are not FDA-approved: the FDA doesn't review their safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold, and they are not the same as Wegovy or Zepbound. Formulas can differ from one pharmacy to the next, and some add ingredients such as vitamin B12. Compounding pharmacies are licensed and inspected by state boards of pharmacy; outsourcing facilities (503B) also register with the FDA and are inspected by it. The FDA can issue warning letters when either breaks rules on safety or sterility. The drugs Hers lists today are FDA-approved products, not compounded ones.
How to cancel Hers
You can cancel the membership, the medication plan or both in the app, under "My Subscriptions" online, by email or by phone at 1-800-368-0038, at least 2 days before your next billing date. Canceling the membership also cancels the medication plan; canceling only the medication leaves the membership renewing.
Refunds are limited. "Your first month Membership fee is non-refundable", and medication is not refunded once it ships. A medication plan is refunded only if you cancel within 48 hours of your first payment, or 2 days before a renewal. Renewals "may be charged early", up to 2 days, and a prepaid multi-month plan runs to the end of its supply. Disputes go to binding arbitration unless you opt out. If you have side effects, talk to your provider before stopping.
The FTC's lawsuit, filed July 29, 2026 with Utah and Los Angeles County, alleges that Hims & Hers charged customers before the provider consultation it advertised, did not clearly disclose refill dates, and hid the cancel option behind several screens. The company says it will defend the case, which is pending; the allegations have not been proven.
What customers say about Hers
Hers has a 3.3 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 10,748 reviews; 38% are five stars and 24% are one star. Hers invites customers to review it and replies to almost every negative review. The one- and two-star reviews describe slow or no weight loss, a membership price on top of the medication that customers did not expect, charges after canceling or during a hold, and refunds refused. Trustpilot groups every Hers product on one page, so reviews of the weight loss pills are not counted apart.
On the Better Business Bureau, Hims & Hers is accredited but shown as "Not Rated", with 4,521 complaints in the last three years and a notice of the FTC case. The newest complaints are mostly about the $39-then-$149 membership and charges during holds or after canceling. U.S. News, in August 2026, described online reviews as mixed, with reports of inconsistent shipping, slow customer service and trouble canceling.
The before-and-after photos and member stories on Hers' site are marketing; Hers notes that customers "may have been compensated". This site collects no independent reviews of its own yet.
How we scored Hers
Our score combines seven checks. Each one counts for a fixed share of the total, listed below. Commission is not an input.
- Price transparency: 8.3/10 (counts for 20% of the total score). Every medication and the membership are priced on the page. We take points off because only starting-dose prices are published.
- Cost and value: 8/10 (counts for 15% of the total score). Few programs that sell only brand-name drugs publish a comparable price, so Hers' rank in that group says little. The $149 membership comes on top of the medication.
- Medication and pharmacy traceability: 7/10 (counts for 15% of the total score). Pharmacies are named, but without addresses, so we could not match them to FDA records ourselves.
- Clinical access and oversight: 7/10 (counts for 15% of the total score). Medical groups are named and check-ins are monthly, but no review time is stated.
- Safety and enforcement: 5.8/10 (counts for 20% of the total score). An open FDA warning letter to Hers, the DOJ referral and SEC investigation of its parent, and a Form 483 at a pharmacy it owns.
- Terms, commitment and refunds: 9/10 (counts for 10% of the total score). Canceling is open by app, email and phone and the refund rules are written down; we take points off for the pending FTC lawsuit and the BBB complaints about billing.
- Availability and fulfillment: 5.3/10 (counts for 5% of the total score). Not in all 50 states, with no state list.
This is the first score for Hers. Confidence is low: forhers.com blocked our tools, so we read its pages from archived copies dated September and October 2026. Three of the seven checks carry an editor's adjustment, explained above; together they lower the total by 0.4, the most our method allows. The method is on our methodology page.
